Eczema is a skin condition marked by itching rashes and scaly patches on the skin. This condition is often hereditary and is fairly common in infants, though it usually clears up by about 3 years of age. Adults who suffer from eczema often will have recurrences throughout their lifetime. The areas most commonly affected by eczema are the knees, upper chest, arms, and hands. Eczema can be caused by a bad diet, allergies, low metabolism, and excessively cold, dry weather. The good news is that as unpleasant as this condition can be, there are eczema home remedies that can relieve your symptoms.
While there is no cure for eczema, there are many treatments that can relieve some of the symptoms. If you think you’ve tried everything, and nothing has worked, you need to do yourself a favor and go through this list. Sometimes it’s just a matter of trial and error. What works well for one person may not work well for everyone. Find the things that work best for you.
1. The first thing you will want to do is to honestly evaluate your diet. Recent studies have shown a link between high acid diets and eczema. Taking a kelp supplement can help you neutralize the acid. These supplements are found anywhere you can buy vitamins and in health food stores.
Keeping a food journal so you can track what you’ve eaten in relation to your eczema flareups can be a great way for you to narrow down exactly which foods cause problems, then you can eliminate them from your diet permanently.
2. When you have a flareup your skin gets dry and itchy, so it stands to reason that applying a moisturizer can help. Keeping your skin supple and moist is easy, simply applying a moisturizer twice a day to keep your skin hydrated can go a long way. Since perfumes can irritate your skin only use moisturizers that don’t have any added perfumes.
3. Using blueberry leaves can help relieve your eczema since they are a anti microbial which means that they can help kill off bacteria and keep your skin clearer. This can help reduce the itching and swelling associated with your eczema.
4. Using an emollient can help keep your skin moist as well as protect it.
5. Many people have reported that they can relieve their symptoms by using a mud pack. Simply applying it to their skin and leaving it on for 20 – 30 minutes can help alleviate the itching and discomfort.
6. Using crushed papaya seeds applied as a paste directly to your skin has provided soothing relief for many people. It will relieve the itch.
Everyone is different and you may not respond as well to some of these remedies as other people have. But keep trying until you find one, or more, that works well for you. When you’ve found it just keep applying it as needed to relieve the itch and discomfort.
Having eczema can be a miserable thing to have to put up with, but there are effective eczema home remedies that can lessen the severity of your outbreaks and make your condition a little more bearable.
