Wondering if the itch or burning sensation accompanied by thick curd like discharge from your vagina is yeast? Let your doctor decide before you begin applying any of the home remedies for yeast infection. Vaginal yeast infection is a common health issue among women of childbearing age. When the bacterial population in the digestive tract and vagina are disrupted, yeast develops. Caused by Candida albicans, a type of fungus, yeast is a non-sexually transmitted disease but it can cause much discomfort and may even come with a sour odor. While yeast infections are essentially not related to sexual activity, it still pays to ensure you’re your partner has clean genitalia before sexual contact. The use of perfumed personal care products, hormonal changes, unhealthy diet and unhygienic habits and even oral contraceptive or antibiotic use also render women highly susceptible to yeast infection. Other contributing factors may be wearing tight-fitting synthetic undergarments. If yeast infection is not effectively controlled, it can become chronic, triggering more problems.

When vaginal yeast infection arises, one of the things that can come to the rescue are antifungal agents. In some cases of recurring vaginal yeast infections, though, conventional antifungal agents may not work. A natural comprehensive treatment plan, which includes an overhauled diet complemented by home remedies for yeast infection, is the best recourse. An obstetrician-gynecologist may prescribe a vaginal suppository. The alternative may be a garlic suppository, which can be prepared by peeling the garlic clove then wrapping this in gauze for insertion into the vagina. Let it stay in the genital area for half a day to bid adieu to the infection. Another home remedy is to dab the genital area with the all-around herbal healer – apple cider vinegar (in diluted form). Douching using diluted tinctures of herbs like calendula, thyme, golden seal, or chamomile is done by some women, but this isn’t advisable for others, like pregnant women. Nutrition experts advise taking probiotics like yogurt to create bacterial balance. Numerous studies support the idea that Lactobacillus supplements can prevent and treat vaginal yeast infections. Doctor-approved oral doses of Lactobacillus can have a positive outcome on the vaginal ecosystem. It’s been effective for most women who have sought natural ways to control candidiasis. Intravaginal application of Lactobacillus acidophilus suppository can be a good treatment for chronic vaginal yeast infection.

To crack down on yeast, it’s also important to pinpoint the triggers of increased incidence of infection. Ever noticed how some women with high blood sugar levels tend to have repeated yeast infections? Health findings point out that women who are unable to efficiently metabolize simple carbohydrates are highly susceptible to recurring yeast infection. Part of a comprehensive natural treatment plan should be making important dietary changes. Minimize intake of sugary foods and refined carbohydrates. By slowly changing the way you eat, the more you help your body remove layers of infection (including stopping yeast infection in its tracks). A suitable exercise program may likewise complement your preferred home remedies for yeast infection. Rev up your body for at least half an hour each day, and get your fill of B vitamins, chromium, magnesium, and other important minerals.

You can also do this by applying the well known yoghurt remedy. Though if you freeze it in the finger of a plastic glove, once frozen and the plastic is removed – makes for much easier application.
