Medical Home Remedies – A Way To Save Time And Money
For generations, people have used medical home remedies to relieve everything from a sprained ankle to a serious injury. Many of us can still remember grandma’s herb garden and the old fashioned remedies she swore by.
Today, with so much concern over the environment and how we are going to pay for our expensive, man made drugs, more and more people have been turning to ‘the old ways’ and finding relief with natural remedies that our ancestors used to rely so heavily on.
Instead of just getting relief from an injury, such as taking a pain killer or using an anti inflammatory, we are now more interested in curing the underlying problem. Using a combination of heat and ice, for example, to help a sprain heal rather than just provide ourselves comfort is a concept that is becoming increasingly popular.
Using chicken soup to fight a cold isn’t just an old wives tale, turns out that the soup actually contains the mineral selenium which helps your immune system fight off infection. And the warm broth can sooth your throat and the steam can clear your nose. And it just plain tastes good!
Using cranberry juice to prevent and cure urinary tract infections. This has been shown to be just as effective, if not more effective than taking an anti-biotic…without the side effects.
Using St. Johns Wort has been shown to help some people lessen their symptoms of depression.
Chamomile is a soothing herb. When used to make tea it can relax you and if you take it right before you go to bed you will sleep better. You don’t have to rely on man made drugs that have potentially dangerous side effects and can be addictive to help you sleep, just brew a cup of tea.
The list goes on and on. I couldn’t possibly list all the herbal remedies that have been used for centuries to treat a myriad of conditions. Just so you know that you can cure and prevent many common illnesses without having to rely on expensive, less effective, and side effect heavy man made alternatives.
You can easily use more natural herbal alternatives to stay healthy. You can grow many of the herbs yourself either in an outdoor garden or even in a small indoor garden. Think of how neat it would be to be able to go out and pick an herb to create a remedy. Not only would it give you a sense of satisfaction it can also allow you to save money.
Avoiding the side effects of medicine is another great reason to rely more on natural remedies than man made remedies. My mom has heart problems and she is on dozens of medicines. Many of which she only has to take to alleviate some of the side effects of the other medicine she takes! How dumb, and expensive, is that? She has to spend almost $1,000 a month on medicines!
Save yourself some time, and get better results, start using more medical home remedies and avoid the expensive man made alternatives. Just make sure you talk to your doctor first.
