People are usually fearful of hurting someone else. Also, it’s possible to feel afraid that the massage may not be good enough. We’re scared that others will dislike what we are doing. The good news is that it is possible to learn how to give a terrific massage every time you wish to do so. Here is how you can give a terrific back massage each time you wish to.

The first thing that you should do is be sure that the person is comfortable when he or she lies down. They must be laying down on a surface that is firm yet soft. If you don’t don’t own a massage table, you might want to have them lie on the bed. If you are going to massage the person on the floor, provide them with some soft towels or blankets to lay down…or even invest in an inexpensive mat. If the massage-ee wants to keep his or her shirt on, see to it that the shirt is made of a softer material to avoid accidental scratches and friction build up.

Begin with a couple of simple rubbing. Using the whole flat side of your hands, gradually rub up from the lower back area toward the neck. Put a bit of pressure into this but avoid using full massage pressure just yet. Start at the lower back area and glide your hands upwards, along either side of the spine toward the neck then across the shoulders and back down the back. As you continue doing this, make your loops smaller and smaller so that you can be sure to cover the whole back.

Try to use the heels of your hands to create good and pointed pressure. Work the heels of your palms in little circles starting in the middle of the base of the back and then working out toward the sides and then upwards and back in until you’ve massaged the whole back.

Try sitting on one of the sides of whoever you are massaging. Next, put one hand on top of the other and drive into the back with only your fingers. Get start at the spine and thrust steadily and with good pressure across the back away from the backbone and then lightly sort of glide your hands back across the back toward the spine and move up. Repeat the process as you work your way up the back and then do this on the other side.

Rub the spinal column. Begin at the base of the person’s back and then work up all of the sausage like muscles on each side of the spinal column with two of your fingers or your thumbs. Build up a little friction in each node by massaging each one at least five times. Work your way all the way up one side of the back and then repeat the same thing on the other side of the spine.

It is important too to relax the person repeatedly between each part of the massage that you are giving. This means that after using one technique, do the basic rub that you used at the beginning of the massage for a few minutes.
